PDG Greg Arcaro

Greg has worked as a city planner in the community development and housing field for the private, non-profit and public sectors since 1968. For the past four years he has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Community Planning Council of Yonkers as its Executive Director. Continuing the tradition of the Planning Council since its founding in 1920, he is managing its community service and planning projects.
Prior to joining CPCY, Greg worked with the private sector to develop affordable housing and with the City of Yonkers as its Director of Affordable Housing and Planning Commissioner. While with the City, he and his staff completed a new Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance, the renovation of the City Pier, and neighborhood improvement projects including Habitat for Humanity projects.
For many years, Greg worked for the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation, a national non-profit corporation. As its Assistant Director for Multi-Family Housing, he and his staff assisted neighborhood-based, non-profit corporations throughout the country to develop and manage affordable housing.
Greg has also enjoyed teaching. He has taught planning, real estate and housing development courses at Lehman and Purchase Colleges and at the Neighborhood Reinvestment Training Institute.
Greg graduated from New York University Master’s Program in City Planning, Holy Cross College (A.B. Mathematics), and completed certificates in housing management from the Institute of Real Estate Management.
Greg served as a lieutenant in the U.S Air Force from 1970-72.
He is a member of the American Planning Association and the Mercy Center Board of Advisors (Bronx, NY).
Greg resides with his wife, Janice, in Yonkers where they raised two children – Rebecca and Michael.
