President Sundra called the meeting to order
 
Members present:  Sundra, Seeme, Matts, Shahid, Barbara, Bina, Mahbub, Jeffrey, Ali, Alix, Harvey, Harry, George and Frank.
 
Guests: Dr. Kay Carrucci, Founder of Yonkers Philhoarmonic (Guest Speaker), Madeline Mignone,  VP, Yonkers Philharmonic, Nasin Yazdan, nephew of Shahid.

Meeting Highlights:
Sundra opened the meeting, with the pledge. The  
Invocation was done by Jeffrey. Moment of Silence was observed for 9/11 victims. Members recited the 4- way test and sang the Club song..

Happy Bucks in the amount of $38 was collected.
 
Speaker:  Dr Kay Carrucci  spoke highly about Yonkers Philharmonic, She stated that Yonkers Symphony has 65 Musicians.  According to Her, the concerts cost about $12,000 to $14,000 She  wants her husband's name alive in the hearts of people who love music.  Dr. Carrucci, like her late husband wants to help music lovers by giving free lessons to Music lovers. Madeline, our other guest thanked the Club for our Community Service Grant and invited everyone in Rotary to their concert on 11th November 2018 at Saunders High School. She distributed flyers of the concert to members and further stated the concert  is an opportunity to listen to beautiful music.
 
New Member Induction: George and Harry became official members of Rotary Club of Yonkers-East Yonkers. They got their New Member kits and Sundra  did the honors presented pins and Certificates.
 
Dream Court: Barbara spoke about Pete Spano - he has passion for Basketball, and is raising money for the Basketball court. Barbara was enthusiastic about the Basketball Court. Barbara stated she wants the Courts to be safe for players. She further stated Yonkers Economic Development Office is willing to be Partner for Basketball court Due to size of court each it’s difficult to make 2 courts at the present location.  So 2 separate alternative locations  are being selected.
 
Library for Liberia:  Jeffrey is trying to contact Sam for more information on the project.  Additional sponsorships for the October 20 Concert in the amount of $1,250 have been received.  Alix, Mahbub, Frank bought tickets ($132) - $1,382 was deposited to the Foundation account.  Members are urged to buy tickets for the Concert and inform their family and friends.  Tickets can be purchased online via Paypal.
 
Persian Festival:  Alix told members present about Persian Festival and it’s a great opportunity to learn about Persian culture.  Alix spoke highly about Dr. Carrucci and further highlighted her love of animal shelter.
 
Holiday Raffle:  Greg came in for a few minutes and dropped off the Raffle tickets.  Harvey will discuss this at a later meeting.
 
Foundation ByLaws:  Alix said that before the end of her term, she had setup a committee to propose amendments to the draft Foundation Bylaws.  The Committee consisted of Greg, Mahbub and Jeffrey.  Sundra suggested Matts should also be on the Committee.
 
Youth Exchange Scholarship Information Program:  This event will be held at the Will Library on Thursday 12 September at 5:30 pm.  On behalf of DG Kris, Mahbub invited Club members to attend.  Yonkers Rising has published a story on the event.
 
Mahbub thanked members for their emails, text messages and phone calls he received wishing his brother well following his surgery.  His brother's surgery was successful and he is back home.
