President Sundra called the meeting to order
 
Members present: Sundra, Mahbub, Bina, Jeffrey, Harvey, Matts, Alix, Seeme, George, Harry.
 
Meeting Highlights:
Sundra opened the Meeting. Following the Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation by Harvey, Members recited the 4-way test and sang the club song.
 
Happy Bucks: Happy bucks collected $9
 
Mahbub as New DGE:  Sundra and Club members congratulated Mahbub on his appointment as the District Governor-Elect of our District.  He will take over as DG on 1 July 2019. Mahbub was thankful for this appreciation and further added that the club will always be his first priority. Mahbub said he would be the 10th District Governor from the Yonkers-East Yonkers Rotary Club. Congrats to Bina and Mahbub.
 
Concert for Liberia:  Club members congratulated Jeffrey for a very successful event.  A net amount of $4,763.23 was collected and deposited to the Club Foundation account.  Bina sent a detailed tally to Foundation Chair Matts and Treasurer Barbara. President Sundra said the funds will remain in the account until Sam submits the detailed plans for the Library project.
 
Pajama Program: Bina spoke about Pajama Program with the Yonkers Chamber. Thanks you, Jeffrey, Sundra, Bina, Alix, Mahbub, Harvey, George and Philippe for bringing in Pajamas.  Jeanne Martinelli of the Chamber will confirm the date of the handover which is expected to be the first week of November.

Letsen Memorial: Alix spoke about Roy Letsen Memorial. The NY State Grant of $8,000 is approved for construction of the Memorial at St. Johns Hospital. The Club Board has approved the contribution $3,000 towards the project. Greg is representing club in this regard.

District Grant:  The check for the 2018 District Grant project with WestHab has been received by Barbara and deposited to the Club Foundation account.  The project was to start on 18 October, but due to a problem it started on 22 October.
 
Snacks for Anti-Bullying Program:  George brought in a bagful of snacks for the Anti-Bullying Program for the kids. Matts and Sundra will hold these for when the Program begins. 
 
Club Speaker - Seeme: Seeme introduced herself throwing a flash back on her life. She stated education was the first priority in her family - her mom was a science teacher and her father worked at Pakistan international Airlines. She grew up where boys and girls were not looked upon equally. She did her Master's in English Literature from Karachi University and came to the US in 1992 for further studies. She is a great believer in Inter-faith marriages and got married to a man whose religion was totally unacceptable to people of her religion - not to mention lot of animosity towards and between the two countries India and Pakistan. Seeme chose a husband from India with a hope to make a difference in this world that demonstrates Humanity is the greatest religion of all.  Seeme is associated with different organizations  - she is director of different organizations namely Pacony, BCC, Mic4justice.  She recently won a prestigious award from the Government of Pakistan. She  was recently awarded Ambassador of Peace by State of Washington DC in a ceremony held in Washington DC.  Seeme owns a construction company which she runs it with her husband. She is a Chaplain for New York State, and is the mother of five children
