President Alix presided over the meeting

Members Present:  Alix, Sundra, Loren, Harvey, Matts, Bina, Mahbub, Barbara, Jeffrey, Frank, Philippe, Parul.

Meeting Highlights:
Alix opened the Meeting at 12:35 with the Pledge, a Prayer for Rotary, the recitation of the Four-Way Test led by Barb, and the Rotary song led by Harvey.  The Meeting adjourned at 1:50.

Happy Bucks in the amount of $35 was collected in honor of, among other things, the coming to an end of an excellent year by Alix and the congratulations to Sundra for her incoming presidency.

Alix announced the slate of officers for 2018 –2019:
   Sundra - President
   Shahid – President-Elect
   Ali – Treasurer
   Seeme – Secretary
   Alix – Past President
   Jeffrey -  Fundraising & Board Member-at-large
   Richard - Board Member-at-large
Bina – RI. Foundation Chair & Board Member-at-large
   Harvey – Sergeant-at-arms

Loren, Chair of the Nominating Committee, said that this wasn’t the slate proposed by the Nominating Committee.  Alix responded that there had been no meeting of the Nominating Committee since it was set up in March.  As such the Board had recommended this slate, which is only slightly different from the original slate, as the Club has not had a Vice-President position for the last 2 years.  The Board decided to continue not having a Vice-President. After much discussion, Alix asked Loren to conduct a vote on approving this slate of officers, which was seconded by Jeffrey.   Barbara asked if the proposed officers had agreed to attend weekly meetings and fulfill their duties.  Alix noted that Seeme had.  Loren noted that Ali had also.  The motion was approved by a majority vote.

Dreamcourt – Alix announced that Pete is in the home stretch finalizing the Global Grant for the full basketball court and the peace and conflict resolution program getting the partners’ signatures on the application.  Sundra asked who would be in charge of the bullying program after the court was completed.  Barbara said Pete and Tom Meir had done the online training and they would take care of it.

Westhab grant: Sundra announced that a District grant to add an art, and perhaps a music component to Westhab’s afterschool program is being developed for the 2018-19 year.  Our Club will contribute $2,500 and the District, if approved, will provide $2,500.

Matts & Sundra attended the Istanbul Fatih Rotary Club, among others, in their recent travels and were received very kindly.

National Night Out – Mahbub was contacted by the Yonkers Community Council for the First Precinct and was asked if we would participate in the National Night Out for the First Precinct again.  It takes place the first Tuesday of August (8/7).  We participated in two police districts, one taking place at Andrus Field and the other at JFK Marina.  This is important community exposure and supports the Yonkers’ Police Department.  There is no charge to participate.  We have hired a face painter in the last two years.  We have handed out flyers and brochures about our Club.  More member participation is needed so that the burden is shared.

There will be a meeting next week (6/20) but no meeting the following week because so many members will be at the RI Convention in Toronto.

The first meeting in the next Rotary Year is also canceled since it will be July 4th.  Therefore the first meeting with Sundra as President will be on July 11th.

Jeffrey won $13 from the 50/50 for the second week in a row!
