Minutes of the 19 July Meeting were unanimously approved.

Membership Survey – Alix and Greg had prepared a draft of the survey which will be sent to all Members in the near future requesting your views on Membership, Programs, etc...  When you receive it, please respond promptly.

Young Professional Adults – This program will be held in Harlem on September 9 and 10 for Members under age 40, and it is sponsored by the District. The Club will sponsor attendees.

Reading Buddies – Riverfront Library – Alix, Barbara, and Peggy each discussed the various children we worked with this week.  It will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (10:00-noon) through August 11.  A large group of children and volunteers were present.  Please let Peggy know if you will be available to volunteer.

International Project – Computers to Guatemala – The Club has committed $500 to the project to send one hundred refurbished computers to schools in Guatemala.  The project was initiated by the RC Rye  about 1 ½ years ago and Greg has been involved with it.  The computers (15 per school plus some extras) will be loaded onto trucks on Thursday, 27 July at 163 Main Street in Port Chester for shipment to Charlotte, North Carolina, and from there by boat to Guatemala.

National Night Out – Tuesday, August 1 – Y-EY will have tables set up at JFK Marina (Fourth Precinct) and Andrus Field (First Precinct) that evening between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.  Volunteers are needed at both locations.  Please let Peggy know as soon as possible if you can assist.

Dream Court – Members remarked that they often see older teens and adults currently playing on the courts at Andrus field.  No children have been observed playing there.  Pete indicated that he planned to hold tournaments there for children.  There was discussion as to how this would be accomplished.

UN Rotary Day – Greg reported that this event will not be held at the United Nations in NYC this year.  Instead, it will be held in Geneva, Switzerland.  It will return to NYC next year.

Adopt a School Program – Alix has been in contact with Elda Perez, the Principal of the Hostos Micro Society School, about attending one of our Meetings to explain this program.  She will contact Alix after mid-August.

Fundraiser – Cameroon Roads – Boniface reminded us that there will be a  fundraiser at the Nepperhan Community Center on August 12 beginning at 9:00 p.m., with music and dancing to follow.  The fundraiser is a private initiative to raise money for roads in Cameroon.

Stamp Out Hunger – Matts informed us that this annual RI baseball game between Philadelphia and the NY Mets will be held on August 11 in Philadelphia.  There will be a dinner on August 12, and RI President Ian Riseley will be in attendance. These are major events to raise money to stamp out hunger. Please contact Matts for further information.

Speaker Kris Chittur – DGE – Kris commended Alix and our Members on our Meeting this evening.  He was very pleased that our entire Meeting was about hands-on projects and not just “writing checks.”  He indicated that one area he will be focusing on – as should all Clubs in the District – is the lack of minority outreach.  Demographics of Rotary Membership does not reflect the demographics of the community, and this issue needs to be more fully addressed.  Kris also informed us that he is planning to start an E-Club.
