Meeting Highlights:
Meeting at The Dolphin Restaurant was called to order at 6:15 by President Alix who led the pledge of allegiance and offered an invocation. The Club recited the 4-Way Test.
Speaker: Recently appointed District Governor, Janet DiBenedetto, due to the poor recovery from surgery by our DG Barbara Edwards. Janet said she has 7 months to “shake, rattle and roll.” She has chosen as her major project to respond to Puerto Rico’s devastation. Meeting
with Inwood Club member Jim Cushner and NY Club Larry Cohen they will be buying water filters and solar lights at cost and personally transporting them to PR. The solar lights have a phone charger plug. Also a local business person, Danielle Burton, has a warehouse on Saw Mill River Rd where she accumulates medical supplies that are sterile but unusable by local health care facilities and these too may be delivered to PR. Jim & Larry will hold GoTo online meetings to share their ideas with District Rotarians to share with their clubs.
Janet also shared info about the re-scheduled District Conference for April 27-28 at Tarrytown’s Doubletree Hotel. Friday morning there will be a business meeting and probably a memorial service for those Rotarians who have died in the past year. At noon there will be the Paul Harris lunch and Janet would like to have 2-300 people attend. The afternoon may be focused on cyber security. Saturday there will be an outreach program – 10 – 2 a feeding program at White Plains High School. She hopes the clubs will organize 400 people to package food for the hungry. That evening will be a dinner.
Janet said we really need to believe in what we do.
There are two more weeks to sell holiday raffle tickets. All funds should be brought to the next meeting.
